    Immanuel Jarvis

    Chairman, Durham GOP

    Dear Mr. Jarvis:

About your letter to the Herald-Sun.

I used to be a Republican, and over the years I’ve voted for many GOP candidates including numerous GOP presidential candidates. I believe in traditional GOP principles, such as limited government, fiscal responsibility and the need for individual responsibility.

However, the current GOP has abandoned these principles and I have left the party for the following reasons:

    • Both parties must set minimum qualifications for its candidates, which include human decency, competence for the job, good personal character, freedom from corruption, honesty, lack of bigotry, respect and compassion for others. Donald Trump fails on every one of these qualifications. The Republican leadership should spell out its qualifications for candidates and adhere to them. The GOP should never have supported Trump as the nominee. I would have voted for Kasich. Trump has made so many bad decisions, engaged in so many corrupt or criminal activities, appointed so many bad, ill-suited people to high positions for the wrong reasons, that it is beyond the scope of this letter to list them. Trump is the laughing stock for all the world leaders of our allies. Instead of “draining the swamp” he has enlarged it and made it slimier.

    • Today’s GOP places higher priority in protecting Trump rather than checking his excesses. Devon Nunes, for example, has been particularly egregious in placing protection of Trump first, rather than doing his job properly as chairman of the House Judiciary Committee. Today’s GOP leaders, with the exception of a few like Flake and McCain, have been wimps, afraid as hell of holding Trump honest in his job. GOP leaders have been and are big cowards, and they are not doing their job properly for the American people.

    • The recent tax cut bill is the height of fiscal irresponsibility; it will add over $1 trillion in new federal debt over the next several years. It gave a huge tax break to the super-rich, when they don’t need it. Now the GOP makes noises of cutting Medicare and Social Security to partially fund the tax cut for the super-rich.

    • I believe that health care should be affordable for all. Many working people cannot afford their own health care. Over the past three decades the GOP has made absolutely no effort to reform health care and to make it affordable and to protect people with pre-existing conditions. All they have done is to repeatedly try to repeal the Affordable Care Act, and to allow health insurance companies to reinstall pre-existing conditions clauses in their insurance policies. Too many GOP senators and representatives are in beholden to special interests and lobbyists.

    • I am strongly against all the voter suppression and gerrymandering the GOP has done recently.

    Sincerely yours,
  • John Booth

This site needs to be proofed!. For example, Chuck Kitchen…no ‘s’ on his name. Take all the ‘titles’ off…Judge, Justice, Dr. so they will be consistent with their names as they appear on the ballot. Always care about Republicans appearing bright and informed. After all, we are asking citizens to entrust the governing of this country to us!!!

I am registered as an independent, however I need a list of Republican Party candidates and their platforms / promises that they are running on across the board in Durham NC. Judged, school board, Reps, etc. I know that we have no U.S. Senators or House Reps on the ballot this November, but I want to stay informed. Thank you!

The Democrats have put forth candidates as Republicans, but are in reality Democrats. I need to know exactly who the Durham GOP is endorsing for the NC Supreme Court Seat 1 (Jackson or Anglin?) and Appeals Court seat 2 (Griffin or Ray?). Also, will you mail me a voting guide?

Hi there, I am the Vice Chairman for the Republican and Libertarian Law Students Association at North Carolina Central University School of Law. We have scheduled Dr. Alveda King to come and speak at the law school on March 29, 2018 at Noon. We have been informed of potential protesting and were wondering if anyone in the Durham Republicans office has any advice or guidance they can provide from past experience on how to best handle this, as we do not want our right to have her on Campus infringed.

Any and all ideas/guidance would be greatly appreciated. NCCU is currently looking into what they can and cannot do.

    Thank you in advance.

You have an office. Why is there no phone number or contact person to reach?

I need more help to vote for the least communist democrats in the election. Jarvis was helpful, but not enough.

More information on all candidates for office in summary form for a busy public is essential. Especially background on judges. Nobody outside the courthouse knows these dudes and their judicial philosophy.

    Good morning,

My name is Stewart Johnson and I am a program coordinator with the Men’s Achievement Center (MAC) at North Carolina Central University. I apologize in advance as I know this is a place for feedback but as I have not found another way to contact your party I am having to use this space. I am contacting you today to ask if you, or any other chair or representative of your party, would be interested in participating in a program the MAC is hosting called, “Knowing Your Left From Your Right”. This program is designed to inform NCCU students about the two major parties and their interests while inspiring them to become civically engaged. In my observation the Republican Party is underrepresented among the black community and even shunned. I would like to give my students the opportunity to be educated properly so they can make an informed decision about their party affiliation. If you could assist me in acquiring a representative to speak on behalf of your party for this program it would be most appreciated. The information for the program is below to help with coordinating schedules. Thank you in advance for your help.

When you yahoos say “we do not know who the refugees are”, it is a statement of your own ignorance.

    Refugee Processing and Security Screening

This Web page provides information about the security screening and background checks required by the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program (USRAP) as well as the refugee resettlement process. The USRAP is an interagency effort which includes a number of governmental and non-governmental partners both abroad and in the United States. Refugee applicants have the highest level of background and security checks of any category of traveler to the United States.

On Monday, Jan. 31, 2017, Orange County illegally disposed of livestock it had illegally impounded, in violation of the laws below.

LAWS VIOLATED by Orange Cty Officials known so as to enable private interests to “take” for urban growth and private profit (may be other laws)

    - NCSL 2011-363, Farm Protection, which removed, in total, jurisdictional control for all purposes by municipalities of ETJ farms

    - OCAS Ord. 4-45 animal nuisance “dog only” law which excludes livestock

    - G.S. 106-701 preempts OCAS Sec 4-45(3); as latter also is applicable only to dogs re public nuisance

    - OCAS Ord. Sec. 4-51 prescribes a civil solution, NOT a criminal one [Why did OC file and prosecute owner Kille both civiilly and criminally, then deny “due process” AND “just compensation” to farm owner?

    - NC G.S. 106-701, No Ag facility can be prosecuted as a “nuisance” after one yr in operation AND when 3rd parties move into proximity knowing in

advance that the Ag facility exists (Carrboro apts. opposite Kille’s OC farm built on annexed former OC farmland about 1998)

    - G.S. 68-16, if livestock released by vandals, owner would not be liable

    - G.S. 68-18. owner must be promptly notified and provided whereabouts of impounded livestock, not limited to posting an impoundment notice on the

owner’s property if owner is known. OC disregarded all provisions og this statute.

    - G.S. 68-17, when vandals have been apprehended, OC Sheriff has failed to arrest; DA has failed to allow admission of law enforcement records as trial evidence or to prosecute.
Note: Language of OCAS 4-42, for decades, only applied to “vicious” dogs. On Nov. 15, 2016, OC officials substituted “danderous” for “vicious” so as to obtain — on Nov. 16 —a Court Order for the purpose of impounding a single owner’s livestock on Nov. 17. THIS IS DISCRIMINATION, if nothing else!
When did NC become a “Banana Republic”?

    - G.S. 68-18.1, OC prohibits disposal of livestock; on Jan. 31, 2017 OCAS disposed of a herd [estimated value, $200,000] in violation of this and other laws.

Note: – Neighboring Carrboro has no separate animal “nuisance” ordinance; however, impounded livestock hadn’t entered incorporated limits; hadn’t caused property damage or harm to any individuals.

    - OCAS Nuisance ord, 4-45 (orig “dog law”) reads: When an animal control officer or law enforcement officer observes a violations, the owner or keeper will be provided written notification of such violation and be given 24 hours or less to abate the nuisance; NOTE: neither provision has ever been acknowledged or implemented by,OC as regards the Kille matter.

    - U.S. Constitutional laws guaranteeing civil rights of “due process” and “just compensation”. Evidence is extensive; not limited to trial transcript, eyewitness accounts, recordings.
